May 3rd Social Event Featuring AMA President Dr. Gerald Harmon

Tuesday, May 3rd @ Stone River 121 Alexander Road, West Columbia, SC 29169 President of the AMA and South Carolina Family Physician will Address Midlands Physicians on May 3 at Stone River in West Columbia. South Carolina physicians who are members of the Columbia Medical Society and the Lexington Medical Association are pleased to welcome Dr. Gerald E. Harmon who will address Physician Involvement in Organized Medicine at the jointly-sponsored event that is scheduled Tuesday, May 3. Beginning with a reception at 6:00 pm and dinner soon following, this event is scheduled at the Stone River, 121 Alexander Road, West Columbia. A retired major general from the U.S. Air Force and dedicated family medicine specialist for more than 30 years in coastal Carolina, Dr. Harmon is the 176th president of the American Medical Association. He has been a valued member of the American Medical Association’s Board of Trustees since 2013 and served as Board chair from 2017 – 2018. His distinguished record of service in his home state of South Carolina includes Board chair and president of the South Carolina Medical Association. He is also a professor at two of South Carolina’s medical schools and is a member of the clinical faculty for the Tidelands Health Family Medicine residency program where he regularly instructs physicians in training. Dr. Harmon is an adviser to the board of trustees for his local community health system and is vice president in a multispecialty physician practice. Dr. Harmon ended his decorated, 35-year career in U.S. Air Force with the rank of major general, serving the nation in the Air Force Reserve, on Active Duty, and in the Air National Guard holding responsibilities as chief physician for the National Guard Bureau. His honors include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
